Transmission of the Virus
Dengue virus is primarily transmitted by Aedes mosquitos, particularly Aedes aegypti, which prefer to lay eggs in artificial water containers, reside near humans, and feed on humans rather than other vertebrates. They bite most often in the early morning and late at night, but they can infect at any time of day. This disease is spread through a single bite. Since it prefers to live close to humans, lay its eggs in artificial water containers, and feed on humans rather than other vertebrates, Aedes aegypti is particularly relevant.
